Just an update:

[IMPORTANT SKI RALLY REGISTRATION INFO--PLEASE READ]

So, with skiing and snow boarding there is a lot of info on those registration forms, eh? Well, Crabbe Mountain (the hill we’ve booked) kind of needs that info as soon as we can get it to them. Remember how in the past when you ski with a large group it takes a while to get going? Well, sending in this info makes it that much faster!

Not exactly what I meant by "Large" ski group, but hey...

So how do we handle that? Well, when you collect your student’s registration forms simply send them–IN FULL–to Elliott in Summerside by one of the following methods:

  1. Scan the documents and email them to elliott@summersidenazarene.org
  2. Fax them to 902-436-2307

*And remember: the February 7th deadline still holds true!

UPDATE: A hi-res digital photo of your form emailed to Elliott works too (try to use a white background if you can). Remember: forms are due tonight by Midnight! If you have a must-ask question, call or text Elliott @ 1-902-315-4169.

Disappointment…………?

Today has been a very up and down day.  We had early morning breakfast today with our regional president.  I had deep fried french toast with cream cheese and raspberries (up).  Rob Snow (our rp) also ordered it.  He only ate two bites of it (down).  Then we went to break out seminars and talked about the vision for NYC 2011 (up).  With that comes the redundancy of listening to a couple of the same youth pastors ask the same questions over and over again (down).  Then we ate dinner (up) with ten people crammed around a table made for 6 (down) and I sat next to Greg (down).  Then we went for a tour of the facilities we will be using for all of our events (up) but while we were touring around two of the escalators broke while we were on them (down).  Then we went to the Louisville Slugger factory (up) and Muhammad  Ali Center (up).  After that we went out for supper at KFC for their ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET!! (up) wrong. (down).  I know what your saying, how can an all you can eat buffet at KFC while you are in Kentucky be a (down)!? Well there was no popcorn chicken or chicken strips, no fries and lots of dishes which the staff didn’t even know what it was.  With all that said the day was a complete success.  We will be heading home tomorrow and look forward to sharing all of our info with you.  So when will you get your first taste of NYC 2011?  At Ski Rally and only at Ski Rally.  Not a day before.  So if you want the scoop get your rear signed up for our upcoming District Youth Event!! Blap Blap!

Some thoughts on service projects for NYC2011

The talk has been focused around what service projects will make the larger impact on our districts long after the event and also the city of Louisville. For anyone who went to NYC St. Louis they will defenitly remember the feeding of the 5000 (which turned into 11000), there is a lot of talk around that model but expanding and improving it to include many other aspects like clothing, health supplies, school supplies… And also allowing the kids to be involved in the process right to the end. We would be interested in your input.
Answer this question in the comment section below.
How can we prepare/follow up with our kids while we are in Canada Atlantic before and after NYC2011?

“I thought this was farm country!”

Hey everyone,

This post is coming to you live from the most crazy hotel of all time. We currently are at www.galthouse.com. This potentially could be where we stay for NYC. Given our first nights experience, IT SHOULD BE!

Anyway, I just wanted to put to rest any thoughts that Louisville is some kind of town located in Hicktown, USA. This place I believe will be a wonderful place for 10,000 NYI teens to come and share the love of God. Why do I say this? Is it because there are football stadiums, baseball fields & huge universities around? Nope. Is it because it is home to 3 Golden Corral Buffets, dozens of Chik-Fil-A shops, or an all-you-can-eat KFC buffet? Nope. So why is it? what does Louisville need that it doesn’t already have? I think the answer is simple:

Jesus.

That’s it. I am not implying that Jesus has never visited here and we’re going to bring him here. However, as we drove down Seventh St. on our way home from church we saw something we don’t see in the Maritimes often. One street. Five strip clubs. Seven adult film stores. Once again on one street.

NYC 2011 will prove to be a life-changing event for all of our teen I have no doubt about that. But the potential kingdom value of this trip is as Mastercard would put it… Priceless.

Be excited. Downtown Louisville is beautiful at night. Museums, bistros, and restaurants line the streets. Indiana is right across the river. More importantly, Jesus is as much Lord here as He is in Canada Atlantic.

Will you join us here in 2011? I hope you will!

Did you go to church this morning?

You  better have!  We got up bright and early and headed down for breakfast and from there we found Louisville First Church of the Nazarene.  It was a great service.  Very contemporary worship and a guest speaker, Rob North.  He is a missionary from Africa.  It caused me to reflect a lot on my recent trip to Rwanda.  After that we hit up Golden Corral where we all ate more than we really should have.  What will the afternoon hold? Not sure. Maybe a nap, maybe some touring around.  Check back tonight and we will let you know.  Also keep watching our twitter for UStream broadcasts.  We will be releasing NYC info every once and a while and may even post a contest in the next three or four days where you could win your registration to this February’s Ski Rally!!!
